My name is Mark Pishotta and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

I earned my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology (currently known as the American School of Professional Psychology which is affiliated with Argosy University). My Bachelor of Arts was earned at Elmhurst College.

The theoretical approaches that I most often utilize are person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and rational emotive behavior therapy. However, styles and techniques are always tailored to each client's needs.

For over ten years, I have worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field. Most of my experience has been as a crisis intervention counselor, but I have also worked as a behaviorist for a weight management clinic and as a facilitator for marriage preparation classes. For several years, I have worked in the private practice setting serving a variety of clients.

In addition to the above, I worked as an Adjunct Counselor and Instructor for McHenry County College. I also volunteer for Aniridia Foundation International (AFI), and was a guest speaker at their 2004, 2009 and 2011 medical conferences. Recently, I authored a chapter on stress management in a newly published medical book.

As your therapist, you can count on me to be genuine and empathic, and I will offer you the sensitivity and compassion you need as you work towards completing your goals. My job is to help you better utilize the tools you already have and add a few new ones to your repertoire.
